Dr Kitsios is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. He studied Medicine at the University of Birmingham (MBChB) where he also achieved a Bachelor in Medical Sciences (BMedSci). Following graduation he trained as a junior doctor in the West Midlands, where he completed his Specialist Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
He achieved Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatry in 2018 and achieved his Certificate for Completion of Training in February 2022. He worked as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in Black Country Healthcare Foundation Trust in the NHS.
He has had experience in managing patients with Neurodevelopmental Disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autistic Spectrum Disorder. He has experience in managing a range of affective disorders such as Depression, Anxiety, OCD and has experience in working with Crisis Teams for Acute Presentations of Mental Illness.
Dr Kitsios trained in inpatient and outpatient units and has experience in managing young people with Personality Disorders as well as Eating Disorders.
During his work in the NHS he also trained in the safe implementation of software that aimed at improving patient care as well as improving current health processes. One of his roles was that of Digital Clinical Information Officer.
With a passion for learning and technology Dr Kitsios worked for Health Education England, more specifically for the school of Psychiatry as a Digital and Technology Enhanced Learning Training Programme Director.
Dr Kitsios believes very strongly in a family and a patient centred approach when it comes to mental health difficulties affecting young people. Dr Kitsios strongly believes in a collaborative approach in treatment in mental health and will work with both families and the individual patient for the best evidence based treatment options.
Dr Kitsios has worked with private service providers since 2023. He has been assessing and treating Neurodevelopmental disorders through telemedicine. This is through work with private psychiatry providers in the UK.
Dr Kitsios is currently working as an inpatient CAMHS Consultant from October 2024. His current work is in an Inpatient Eating Disorder Unit.
